ORRVILLE — Just in time for National Ice Cream Month, the Smith Dairy Products Co. announced the launch of a video contest to celebrate summertime.
Dubbed the "Ruggles Scoop Scoop Video Contest," the competition over the next few weeks challenges people to pick up their digital or video camera, or cell phone camera, and create their own video version of the famous "Scoop Scoop, Yum Yum!" (sung by Lorenzo Music) Ruggles Ice Cream jingle.
Penny Baker, marketing director, said the idea evolved as a result of immersing the company more deeply in the "whole social media thing," and "our fan base on the Ruggles and Smith Dairy Facebook pages."
The contest ends July 26.
Company spokesman Lee Esposito said complete rules for the contest, a sample video and instructions for uploading contest entries are available at www.RugglesVideoContest.com.
