Wisconsin Dairy Products Rewarded At WDPA Contest

MADISON, Wis. — America’s Dairyland claimed 40 percent of awards bestowed at the recent World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Contest in Madison. They included the Cheese and Butter Grand Champion Award which was given to Woolrich Dairy, Lancaster, Wis., for its Wild Blueberry Vanilla Goat Milk Cheese.

Winning 87 ribbons of the 219 total, 23 Wisconsin cheese companies took home first place accolades and many were multiple award winners. New York ranked second in total number of awards, winning 23. The contest attracted a record 720 entries in a large array of dairy product categories including cheese, butter, fluid milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, ice cream, sour cream, sherbet, cultured milk, sour cream dips, whipping cream, dried whey and creative/innovative products. The competition attracted dairy processors throughout North America plus a small number from Europe.
