Café Spice Preps Fresh, Convenient Indian Meals For Fall

New Windsor, NY – Café Spice is a leader in bringing restaurant- quality freshly prepared global meals to people on the go. The company will be showing and sampling four new meals, launching nationally in the fall, at the Specialty Food Association’s 2017 Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City.

Café Spice will present the new products at Booth #5648 and in the “What’s New” showcase. You’ll be able to sample and photograph Butter Chicken Meatballs with Basmati Saffron Rice, a sumptuous union of moderately spiced chicken meatballs simmered in an aromatic tomato-cream sauce. This dish builds on the popularity of Café Spice’s Number One seller, Chicken Tikka Masala, with a similar sauce and spices suffusing kofta-type chicken meatballs.

Coconut Chicken Curry simmers chicken cutlets in a tomato-?coconut milk moderately spiced curry with aromatic hints of ginger, cinnamon and clove. Deceptively rich and creamy, it is as healthy as it is satisfying. The accompaniment is Basmati Saffron Rice flavored with bay leaf and cardamom.

Café Spice is adding two more vegan meals to its existing Channa Masala. The Bombay Dal Palak is its take on a popular comfort dish with many recipe variations widely enjoyed throughout India. Café Spice’s colorful version, served with Basmati Lemon Rice, features three varieties of lentils, slowly cooked and blended with tomato, spinach and spices, including garam masala, fresh ginger and garlic, turmeric and red chilies. It's like a virtual mealtime tour of the renowned street food of Mumbai.

Cauliflower is a rising star in the vegetable world, according to the Specialty Food Association. Café Spice showcases it in Aloo Gobhi Curry with Basmati Lemon Rice. This vegan dish pairs fragrantly spiced cauliflower florets with diced potatoes in a light onion-?tomato curry sauce. Authentic spices used in this North Indian classic include kasoori methi (fenugreek), garam masala, fennel and red chilies.

Café Spice’s culinary director, Chef Hari Nayak, said, “These meals respond to emerging personal tastes, with humanely raised chicken and vegan and gluten free options. People today want healthy, flavorful food created from fresh and whole ingredients.” Chef Hari will be available for media interviews at the show by prior arrangement.

“Global cuisine has gone mainstream, but it is too often relegated to the frozen food section,” said Sameer Malhotra, Café Spice’s co-?founder and president. “We are pioneering a niche that is growing in demand by bringing freshness, clean ingredients, and gourmet quality to global prepared foods,” he added.

Café Spice products are available in the deli or prepared foods sections of markets such as Whole Foods Market, Fresh Thyme, Harris Teeter, Shop Rite and HEB as well as natural food and specialty stores and co-?ops nationwide. Located in New York's Hudson Valley, the company is active in local job development and international economic development initiatives through the Whole Planet Foundation.
