Double Gold For FrieslandCampina Cheese At The International Cheese Awards 2013

FrieslandCampina Cheese has won gold with Vermeer and Frans Hals, two cheeses from the ‘A Dutch Masterpiece’ line, at the Nantwich International Cheese Awards 2013. This annual cheese competition was held this year on 31 July.

It was the 116th edition of the International Cheese Awards in Nantwich (United Kingdom), with 600 cheese makers from 27 countries taking part. An international jury consisting of cheese experts tasted and judged 4,285 cheeses from all over the world.

Vermeer won gold in the 'lighter cheese between 17-24% fat' cheese group and was voted 'best cheese with health benefits'. Frans Hals won gold in the 'goat’s milk cheese hard pressed' group.

These cheeses, each with a unique flavour of their own, have been made in Holland and sold in the United States since the late 1990s.  Vermeer was crowned World Cheese Champion by the WCMA in 2012. Both cheeses, along with the other ‘Dutch Masterpiece’ cheeses, Rembrandt and Vincent, are available at fine retailers nation-wide and imported exclusively by Jana Foods, Iselin NJ.
