Klondike Cheese Company Honored With Three First-Place Awards

Monroe, WI — Judges for the 2010 Wisconsin State Fair Cheese and Butter Contest recognized what fans of Klondike Cheese already know: the company’s Master Cheesemakers are dedicated to producing outstanding cheeses. At the recent competition, Klondike Cheese Company took home four awards in all. Its signature Odyssey Feta won First Place in the Feta Category for Traditional flavored Feta in Brine. Klondike Brick Cheese was awarded First Place honors in the Brick/Muenster category, and Klondike Havarti received the First Place award in the Open Class for Semi-Soft Cheeses. Klondike Odyssey Reduced Fat Feta in Brine also received Second Place honors in the Reduced Fat/Lite Cheese category.

Klondike cheeses, produced by Master Cheesemakers Ron, Dave and Steve Buholzer, start with the freshest cow’s milk from Wisconsin family farms. The Buholzer brothers represent three generations of family cheesemaking experience. Today the legacy continues with the fourth generation of cheesemakers. The Klondike Cheese Factory, a state-of-the-art facility, was originally started by a farmers’ cooperative more than 75 years ago.

Klondike Cheese Company is proud of its history of producing high-quality artisan cheeses, with more than 39 prestigious awards to its credit since 1992. These latest awards carry with them the honor of being recognized in Wisconsin, a state known for its cheese, where more than 600 types of cheese and dairy products are produced. The awards to Klondike Cheese Company will be presented on August 5, 2010 during the Wisconsin State Fair.
