LaClare Family Creamery Expands Its Offerings

MALONE, Wis — LaClare Farms, which is known for its hard and aged goat cheeses, now expands its offerings with fresh goat cheese.

In December 2017, it acquired the assets of Missouri-based Heartland Creamery. “This acquisition gives us the opportunity to branch out into the Chevre category,” said LaClare Head Cheesemaker Katie Fuhrman, “it has allowed us to round out our goat cheese offerings.”

The 700-goat farm — a multi-generational enterprise operated by two generations of the Hedrich family — is known for producing award-winning goat cheese, yogurt and fluid milk.

“As with any cheese, the ‘secret’ is great milk,” Fuhrman said. “Our cheeses can only be as great as the milk we start with. It all starts on the farm, and we do our best to show off the excellent quality goat milk we get to work with. Or, as I always say to people, my job is to not screw up the fantastic milk I start with.”

LaClare Chevre is now available in both retail and food service sizes in 4 flavors: Original, Honey, Cranberry Cinnamon, and Garlic and Herb.
