Clownfish Swimming Through The Garden

Vista, California, Spring 2012 – Like tropical clownfish swimming through your garden, Dianthus Clownfish are sure to make a splash wherever they grow. The unique blooms of this “Sweet William” type dianthus are colored with salmon-orange, pink and white petals, all on the same flower head!

Clownfish will grow equally well in a flower bed or container. At full maturity expect the plant to reach 16” high and 14” wide. For best results grow in full to part sun and keep evenly moist when first planted. Once established it will tolerate drier conditions.

Lisa Heredia, program coordinator for VIVA! says “I love the idea of using Clownfish in an Under the Sea themed mixed container. I would use blue lobelia for the water, Wasabi coleus for the seaweed and cockscomb to mimic coral. Of course the star centerpiece would be the Clownfish. It would make a great children’s project.”
VIVA! Clownfish Dianthus can be found nationwide at The Home Depot stores this spring.

The VIVA! program introduces a variety of new and noteworthy flower varieties into the U.S. and Canadian markets and contains a mixture of annuals, perennial and woody ‘color’ for use in home landscapes by home gardeners or landscapers.
