The floral designer from Crevasse's Florist Thornebrook Village started with a bridal boutonniere to make sure he gave himself enough time for the small, intricate work involved. He then spent an hour on a matching bridal bouquet. That gave him 10 to 15 minutes to complete a hospital bouquet.
Yet it was the hospital bouquet that most impressed the judges, who named McWilliams the association's Designer of the Year.
As such, he will represent Florida in the national competition next year.
