Group Proposes Increase For Ohio Beef Check-Off

The Ohio Cattlemen's Association has initiated the process through the Ohio Department of Agriculture to increase the Ohio beef checkoff from $1 to $2 per head by statewide referendum. The referendum will be voted on between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at all county offices of the Ohio State University Cooperative Extension Service

Voting also will take place at the Ohio Department of Agriculture in Reynoldsburg and the Ohio Cattlemen's Association in Marysville. Mail-in ballots are available at all county extension offices or can be requested by contacting the Ohio Department of Agriculture at 800-282-1955. All mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Wednesday.

Who can vote:

» Each person who produced and marketed cattle subject to the checkoff in the 12 months prior to voting is entitled to one vote
