IRI To Discuss How Millennials Will Change The Meat Case At 2015 Chicken Marketing Seminar

In their keynote address, “How Millennials Are Changing the Meat Case: What to Expect as Millennials Mature,” IRI’s John Crawford and Chris DuBois will discuss why millennials matter and reveal the marketing myths surrounding them. In addition, they will home in on millennials’ shopping behaviors and how they impact current and projected meat department sales.

In 2015, millennials became the single largest generational cohort. As a result of this growth, millennials’ CPG spending is projected to grow by 70 percent through 2020, while spending by baby boomers will decrease by 16 percent.       Producers and retailers have a real opportunity to connect with these new shoppers and drive sales. However, they must leverage new and different strategies to be successful, because significantly more millennials use digital devices in advance of their shopping trip compared with shoppers aged 35 and over. In fact, 36 percent of millennial meat shoppers use some kind of digital device to obtain information before shopping.       IRI will outline several strategies for chicken producers and retailers that can help them capture this potential future revenue growth.
