Smith’s Named Official Hot Dog Of The Pittsburgh Penguins And CONSOL Energy Center

ERIE, Pa. — The Smith Provision Company today announced that it has entered into a multi-year agreement to become the Official Hot Dog of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the new CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

"We are thrilled to continue introducing our premium quality products to the Pittsburgh market," said Mike Weber, President of Smith Provision Co., Inc. "This exciting partnership will allow us to showcase our legendary hot dogs, sausages and deli meats to thousands of new customers."

The partnership will provide Smith's with extensive marketing opportunities at the new CONSOL Energy Center in downtown Pittsburgh and a major presence with the National Hockey League team's broadcasts, website and fan experience.

As part of the agreement, Smith's legendary hot dogs, sausages and deli meats will be served exclusively at all Penguins home games and during events and concerts at the new CONSOL Energy Center. The first Smith's wiener will be served August 18 during a grand opening concert by Paul McCartney.

With more than 40 concession areas, the new $321 million arena in Pittsburgh will feature Smith's flagship product, the Natural Casing Wiener — nicknamed the Smith's Penguin Dog — as well as its premium skinless wieners, sausages and deli meats. Also featured in the arena will be Smith's "Official Hot Dog" signage and other brand messages. Smith's will also become a sponsor of the Penguins Radio Network game broadcasts on more than 30 affiliate stations, pittsburghpenguins.com website promotions, in-game product giveaways and local appearances by Penguins mascot, Iceburgh.

According to the team's Vice President of Business Development, David Peart, the Penguins chose Smith's as a partner with the goal of serving extremely high-quality products to complement their world-class facility. In addition, the team wanted to work with an organization that shares its ethical standards and uncompromising commitment to quality. Smith's, a family-owned manufacturer based in Erie, Pennsylvania fit the bill.

"Having Smith's hot dogs as our official team hot dog and concessions partner lets our fans know that, not only are things different in CONSOL Energy Center, they're better too," said Peart.
