Crunch Pak, Appeeling Fruit Expand East Coast Production

CASHMERE, Wash. (Oct. 7, 2010) — Crunch Pak®, the industry leader in fresh sliced apples, formed a working relationship with Appeeling Fruit, an East coast fresh apple processor instrumental in pioneering the fresh-cut apple industry since 1999, to increase production at a plant in Dauberville, Penn.

“We saw an opportunity to more efficiently serve our customers in the eastern part of the country,” said Tony Freytag, national marketing director for Crunch Pak. “Our collaboration with Appeeling Fruit will enable us to produce more sliced apples under the same stringent quality standards that both companies believe in.”

The 24,000-square-foot plant will triple its current production of sliced apples through the expansion of equipment and staff from both Appeeling Fruit and Crunch Pak. The plant’s increased output is expected to ramp up the next three months and reach full capacity in 2011.

At full capacity, the plant will produce 220,000 pounds of fresh sliced apples per week, half of which will be sourced from the Northeast.

Steve Cygan, president and CEO of Appeeling Fruit, said “We’re able to use our processing plant more effectively due to the advancements in engineering and production as a result of our relationship with Crunch Pak.”
