CORAL GABLES, FL. – Del Monte Fresh Produce, N.A., Inc. is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Superior Taste Award by the International Taste and Quality Institute (iTQi) for its Del Monte® Fresh Guac, including the Pico De Gallo, Classic and Spicy flavors. The award’s judging panel analyzed products on a blind basis, and evaluated the food on an overall taste, as well as criteria like visual appeal, smell, texture and flavor.
Del Monte® Fresh Guac is preservative free, ready-to-eat and comes in an assortment of flavors and convenient packaging. All of the flavors are created with fresh veggies, creamy Hass avocados, and a dash of salt (for flavor). These products have been ideally positioned to address today’s consumer needs for healthy snack items, making them perfect for retailers to add to their fresh produce and deli sections.
Every year the Brussels based iTQi gathers a jury composed of members from prestigious culinary institutions throughout Europe in order to test food and beverage products. This year, 3 blends of Del Monte® Fresh Guac were tested along with other products from companies from around the world. During the tests, each product is evaluated and scrutinized in the shape of a sensory analysis report for which criteria such as olfaction, vision, taste, after taste, texture, etc. are all taken into account. Similarly to the Michelin guide of gastronomy, iTQi does not organize a competition but rewards products on their own merits. Only products having received a mark superior to 70% will be granted a « Superior Taste Award » of one, two or three golden stars.
