Frieda’s Donates To ‘Let’s Move Salad Bars To Schools’ To Celebrate ‘Love Your Produce Manager’ Day

LOS ALAMITOS, CA – In recognition of the produce organizations and influencers that shared the national Love Your Produce Manager® Day message during the week of April 1, Frieda’s Specialty Produce made a special donation to the ‘Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools’ campaign.

In April, Frieda’s invited all produce-affiliated organizations and grocery retailers to share their appreciation for Produce Managers by spreading the word about the third annual April 2nd national Love Your Produce Manager Day by posting the Love Your Produce Manager logo and using #LYPM on their company websites and Facebook pages, and on Twitter and Instagram.

“We’d like to thank the produce industry for embracing Love Your Produce Manager Day this year!” said Karen Caplan, president and CEO of Frieda’s. “It is important to us and to the industry to recognize the critical role Produce Managers play in increasing produce consumption.”

Joining in, Lori Taylor of The Produce Mom® said, “We are proud to salute our Produce Managers alongside Frieda’s this year. These men and women work hard to make the produce department a destination for shoppers, and for that we are grateful.”

Dr. Elizabeth Pivonka, president and CEO of the Produce for Better Health Foundation, which supported the event,  said, “Produce Managers are a great resource in helping us get our message to consumers that more matters! We are pleased to support national Love Your Produce Manager Day and bring attention to these supermarket superheroes.”

Caplan added, “We hope that more produce-centric companies and organizations will join us next year on April 2nd as we once again encourage consumers to give shout-outs to their favorite produce managers.”

In addition to The Produce Mom and the Indianapolis Fruit and Produce for Better Health Foundation, other entities that participated in national Love Your Produce Manager Day (#LYPM) this year were:

  •     Alsum Farms & Produce
  •     Concord Foods
  •     Four Seasons Produce
  •     GloboFruit
  •     GoTexan.org
  •     “Produce Retailer” Magazine (Vance Publishing)
  •     Royal Rose Radicchio
