Giumarra Expands Argentinian Blueberry Supply With Partnership

LOS ANGELES – Giumarra International Berry is excited to announce its recently completed agreement with Early Crop, Argentina for the upcoming 2013 import blueberry season. Early Crop is a newly formed company whose primary production region is in Tucuman, which leads the start of the import berry season each year.

“Early Crop begins production in the earliest days of the Tucuman harvest. This project is an essential piece in keeping Giumarra as a primary receiver of early volume from Argentina,” says Mr. Tom Richardson, Vice President of Global Development for the Giumarra Companies. “This ensures we will once again be one of the largest and earliest import companies from this key growing region, which is important in continuing to fully supply our customer base.”

Mr. Ariel Ares, founder of Early Crop, has grown blueberries in Tucuman for the past 10 seasons and says it has been his dream to bring the producers of Argentina into a closer relationship with the customers of the world, and ultimately to the end consumer.

“We see the ongoing relationship with the Giumarra Companies as a great avenue in reaching our goals in the North American marketplace,” Mr. Ares says.

Mr. Ares founded Early Crop with several other key likeminded growers in the Tucuman region.

The additional volume from Early Crop will double Giumarra’s 2012 blueberry supplies from Tucuman, Argentina.
