Jeremy Adler Joins Birko As Director Of Technology & Innovation

HENDERSON, Colo. – Birko, a leader in providing food safety solutions to the meat, produce and brewery industries, announced that Jeremy M. Adler has joined the firm as director of technology and innovation.

“Jeremy has a very strong background in meat safety, antimicrobials and the production plant environment,” said Mark Swanson, Birko’s CEO. “His expertise will be invaluable for Birko and we’re delighted to have him on board. We’re confident that Jeremy will be a valuable addition to our R&D team as we serve our customers in providing food safety solutions.”

Adler will oversee the development and commercialization of Birko’s proprietary technologies, which are designed to improve plant efficiencies and increase the microbiological quality of meat products and the production plant environment. He will work with Birko’s lab team, as well as the staff from Chad Equipment, LLC, Birko’s equipment division.

Most recently, Adler worked for Ecolab, where he led the Antimicrobial Technical Services Team that provided in-plant support for product and process validation and regulatory compliance guidance. His background also includes experience with the Institute for Environmental Health in charge of quality assurance and quality control of the microbiology lab. Adler has consulted on HACCP plans for several meat processors.

Adler earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in animal science from Colorado State University, with a concentration in food microbiology and meat safety. His research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including The Journal of Food Protection and the Journal of Food Science. Adler has also contributed research to the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, the American Meat Institute Foundation and the Department of Animal Sciences at Colorado State University.

He is a well-respected speaker and has made presentations for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the American Meat Institute, the International Production and Processing EXPO and the University of Georgia.
