Redwood City, Calif. – Apr. 21, 2010 – YottaMark, Inc., the leader in traceability and authentication solutions, today announced that Modern Farms has selected its HarvestMark® solution to expand and compliment their existing traceability program based on the growing needs of the Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI) requirements. The PTI will enable whole-chain traceability and enhance food safety response programs. It calls for shippers to apply GS1 compliant labels to cases of produce by Q3 of 2010.
The PA-based mushroom grower/shipper will roll out the HarvestMark PTI system in both its California and Pennsylvania packing locations, and integrate it into its receiving and packing line processes to simplify data capture and entry. Modern Farms will be able to easily assign and edit its GTINs, select label designs from a gallery of label templates and upload GTINs to a centralized secure database. The HarvestMark PTI software’s simple and intuitive interface will allow Modern Farms to preview, select and print the right label at the right time. Data is automatically synchronized between the two packing locations making compliance simple and easy.

Producers can also easily associate additional information with a case, such as logos, GPS coordinates, crew ID, or pallet ID. Each label is also printed with the VoiceCode™ and a unique HarvestMark Code that makes the case instantly traceable at HarvestMark.com. Producers and produce buyers can instantly access harvest and logistics data, food safety status, and details of the source and grower when and where it’s needed.
