Clayton, NJ — Tom Holtzhauser and Leonard Grasso have been elected to the New Jersey Peach Promotion Council, it was announced by Council President Santo John Maccherone.
"We welcome these two growers, who are very active in positioning the New Jersey peach industry as a leading marketer of our locally grown fruit, both on the wholesale and retail levels."
Tom and his wife, Stacey, operate Holtzhauser Farms, on Woodland Avenue in Mullica Hill, Gloucester County. The farm is an independent peach packer and marketer, selling wholesale under the Holtzhauser Farms label, and retail through their outlet on Woodland Avenue. They sell exclusively tree-ripened locally grown yellow and white-fleshed peaches and specialize in yellow- and white-flesh flat or donut peaches. They have recently planted 815 new trees to yield mid- to late-season fruit. Tom has been very active in the New Jersey Peach Festival held at the Gloucester County 4-H Fair in late July. He is the 2012 Governors Cup winner for the Best of Show Box of peaches, presented by New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Doug Fisher.
Leonard Grasso owns and operates Angelo Grasso and Son Farms with his father Angelo, south of Mullica Hill in Gloucester County. The Grassos are a diversified farming operation growing and marketing fruits and vegetables, primarily wholesale. Their peaches are packed and marketed under the Top Crop label by Donio Produce in Hammonton. Leonard Grasso is also a trustee of the New Jersey Peach Council (a separate entity) and a member of various agricultural organizations. He is a former Harrison Township planning committee member and a former director of the Gloucester County Board of Agriculture.
Both directors are strong supporters and marketers of locally grown Jersey Fresh peaches. The New Jersey Peach Council is a voluntary organization of growers, packers, shippers, marketers and allied industry dedicated to the orderly marketing and promotion of NJ Peaches.
