New MountainKing Promotion, 'Crock Around The Clock' Focuses On Popularity Of Crock-Pot Cooking

HOUSTON, TX – MountainKing Potatoes, known for aligning its retail promotions with popular culinary trends, has introduced a new campaign to appeal to the growing number of families who enjoy the convenience of simmer-all-day, crock-pot cooking.

Having recorded an impressive harvest of petite-sized red and gold potatoes, Texas-based MountainKing has created “Crock Around the Clock,” an intensive fall and winter retail promotion designed to showcase the small-size varieties ideal for cooking while the cook is away.

The company touts its petite-sized reds as offering a firmer texture for a chunky consistency while its petite-sized golds present a superior flavor and a more creamy, smooth texture.

In addition to being the perfect complement to other fall cooking vegetables such as celery, onions, carrots and peppers, MountainKing Vice President of Sales and Marketing John Pope says the promotion helps capitalize on two significant trends.

According to Pope, sales of small-size potatoes are up 15.5% in units and 11% in dollars for the past 52 weeks.  Plus, 83% of U.S. households report owning a slow cooker and 50% have used one in the past 30 days, according to NPD Group, a market research firm which tracks consumer spending.

“Without question, the stars line up very well for this promotion,” he says.

Available in three-pound bags, MountainKing’s petite reds and gold are packed fresh to order and pre-sized for easy slicing and quartering.  Each bag contains 8-10 servings with retail pricing from $2.99 – $3.99.

MountainKing’s “Crock Around the Clock” sales promotion, available through February 28, 2017, includes high-graphic bins or optional display-ready boxes to match store traffic volume.  It also includes tailored recipe cards, point-of-sale signage and ad-ready artwork for prompt publication.  The promotion also will be supported with a “Crock Around The Clock” social media contest on Facebook that awards the best in slow cooking.

MountainKing Potatoes is one of the world’s largest growers of high-flavor potato varieties.  Currently, about one million U.S. households enjoy MountainKing products every week.
