Ta-De Launches New Bean Tote In Select Markets

Nogales, AZ — Hand-picked green beans in a user-friendly bag are slated to soon be on the shelves in select North American chains. The new variable-weight packaging featuring Ta-De Produce’s new El Rey label is especially- designed to answer the market’s need for convenience, safety and shelf life.

“We’ve designed this new tote to address some of the challenges our customers have shared with us about handling green beans, “explains Ta-De president Bob Bennen. “First, the hand-picked product ensures the highest quality selection for a family serving. This avoids shoppers having to pick through a bulk display. Secondly, the tote is designed with two holes for the fingers, making it easy to pick up and take in and out of the fridge as needed. You don’t have to cook them all at once. Our tests so far indicate they can last up to two weeks in the bag.”

Bennen himself worked with graphic designers and fabricators on this proprietary bag, supported by direct input from a chain customer. He notes: “We prefer to partner with our customers on these designs to deliver what makes sense for them.”

Samples of the product are now been delivered to selected chains for their review, with positive results so far: “The ‘snap’ quality of these beans are great, even after several days in transit.” noted a procurement manager for a Texas chain.

The introduction is being supported by trade ads and a consumer site printed on the bag itself: http://elreybeans.com with blog titled “Bean Thinking…” featuring information about selecting quality beans, recipes, plus guest posts from “foodie” bloggers.

Green bean from Mexico are now in their seasonal peak, with Ta-De representing the largest grower in the region. In addition to beans, the company is also now shipping TOVs, peppers, eggplant, along with introducing a new line of Asian vegetables. Ta-De estimates they have expanded their product line 20% year-to-date.
