Acme Markets Inc., a 125-store chain operating in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania under the ownership of Eden Prairie, MN-based Supervalu Inc., has promoted Jay Schneider to produce business development manager. He takes the role of lead produce executive vacated by Anthony Barbieri, who was Acme’s produce and floral director and now is the vice president of sales and business development at the Produce Marketing Association, Newark, DE.
Schneider began his 27-year career with Acme pushing carts at the store level and later managing the produce department. He held various other positions, such as imported field inspector and produce operations specialist. Most recently, he spent 10 years as produce category manager. His experience at Acme includes 23 years working with produce.
