Instacart Adds More N. Side Chicago Grocery Delivery Areas, Costco

Instacart, the service that dispatches "personal shoppers" to collect groceries and deliver them to homes that same day, said Wednesday it has expanded to several more North Side neighborhoods and added Costco to its list of stores.

San Francisco-based Instacart launched in Chicago in September, serving 13 city neighborhoods and offering delivery of items from Trader Joe’s. Later, the company temporarily stopped Trader Joe’s and added Whole Foods and Dominick’s. Trader Joe’s deliveries have not  resumed, but Instacart has added Costco to its roster. Customers can order groceries from all three stores and get them in a single, same-day delivery.

Instacart said Wednesday that it also added five North Side ZIP codes that encompass Lake View, Ravenswood, Irving Park, Avondale, Andersonville, Uptown, Edgewater and Albany Park. The company’s coverage area extends south to parts of McKinley Park, Bridgeport and Douglas. Delivery in less than an hour costs $14.99, with the price dropping to $3.99 for orders of at least $35 delivered faster than two hours.
