One of the first Lidl grocery stores in the country is coming to the College Park area of Virginia Beach.

“We have started site work on that property, but I’m unable to provide an opening date,” said Will Harwood, spokesperson for the German grocery giant with 10,000 stores in 27 countries. “We expect to open our first stores in the United States no later than 2018.”

The no-frills retailer – similar to Aldi – offers discount products on fresh meat, produce and bakery items, as well as household goods.
