Record Attendance At The Transportation Intermediaries Association 35th Annual Convention

Alexandria, VA – The Transportation Intermediaries Association, the voice of the third-party logistics industry, set an attendance record at its 35th Annual Convention and Trade Show in Las Vegas. Over 900 3PLs, brokers, forwarders, and suppliers attended the event, the most ever at a TIA convention. The participants talked with subject matter experts, participated in educational opportunities, networked with industry peers and received invaluable support information. The convention allows participants to gain an advantage in the logistics industry, which allows them to remain industry leaders.

The Honorable Annette Sandberg, former Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Administrator, discussed both CSA and MAP-21 with the attendees, giving them the most up to date information available.  Two of the most critical concerns in the 3PL industry, illegal rebrokering and identity theft, were discussed with solutions for both being provided to the attendees. In light of the difficulties involved with careful carrier selection, a new Carrier Selection Framework was released along with a Fair Labor Standards Act Framework, which helps employers alleviate the risk of employment misclassification lawsuits.

Mr. Kevin Rutherford provided the keynote address and discussed how to find and create winning relationships with successful business oriented owner operators and small fleets. Mr. Rutherford is a business trainer, author of national articles, and radio host of Trucking Business & Beyond.

"This meeting more than lived up to its advanced billing and our members were provided with the most timely and up to date information possible, just one more of the many advantages of TIA membership", said Robert Voltmann, TIA’s President and CEO.

TIA is the professional organization of the $162 billion third-party logistics industry. TIA is the only organization exclusively representing transportation intermediaries of all disciplines doing business in domestic and international commerce. TIA is the voice of transportation intermediaries to shippers, carriers, government officials and international organizations.
