City Council Considers Tax On All Fish Coming Over The Docks In Cordova

"A lot to digest" was the consensus earlier this week at a meeting of the Cordova Fisheries Advisory Committee. Created to advise City Council on issues related to the commercial fishing industry, the committee was taking its first look at a recently proposed 1% municipal raw fish tax.

Approximately twenty members of the public attended the meeting providing comment ranging from concerns about the proposed tax to alternative ideas to help generate revenue for the City.

"It was a great turnout," said City Council member Tim Joyce. "It is excellent that the public was there to comment and listen to the issues."
