Oregon Seafoods' Sea Fare Pacific Now Offering Soups & Sauces

COOS BAY, OR – Oregon Seafoods, now in its third year producing natural, wildcaught albacore tuna and sockeye salmon, is introducing six soups and sauces to complement the Sea Fare Pacific™ brand offerings. It’s also entering a more than $412 million sauce market.*

The new 9 oz. Sea Fare Pacific seafood pouch products provide consumers with the following convenient, shelf-stable meals: West Coast Ciopinno, Smoked Salmon Chowder, Seafood Bisque; and three albacore curries: red, yellow and green. The MSRP for these products is $7.99.

Mike Babcock, owner of Oregon Seafoods, enlisted the help of Mark Whitham with Oregon State University (OSU) Sea Grant to research and develop the new seafood-based offerings. Whitham, a product development specialist, works at the OSU Seafood Laboratory in Astoria, OR.

“These new products are pretty innovative,” Babcock noted. “The seafood protein is in the pouch – just heat, serve and enjoy.”

According to the website for the OSU Seafood Research & Education Center, the OSU Seafood Laboratory was established in Astoria in 1940 to meet the increasing needs of the seafood industry.

In addition to developing a unique, premium pouch product, Oregon Seafoods is meeting an increasing consumer demand for local and sustainably caught foods. The seafood items are also gluten free, which is a growing need for people suffering from gluten sensitivities.

Oregon Seafoods supports standards that promote certified sustainable efforts such as Dolphin Safe, Line Caught, BPA Free, Small Footprint and non-GMO. It also promotes West Coast fishing families, which includes line-catching its albacore off the pristine Oregon, Washington and California coastlines one at a time with a hook and line to keep the earth and ecosystem safe.
