Prices Of Clams Skyrocketing Across Massachusetts' Southcoast

FALL RIVER, Mass. — It is a conundrum, Brad Higson admits.

No matter what kind of sausage you put in your clamboil — chourico, kielbasa or bratwurst — if you are from the SouthCoast, summer is not complete without the meal.

But clams are selling for $8.99 a quart in Fall River and $13 a quart in Tiverton.

“It is tough for Fall River,” Higson said. “If you are from this area, we all want clamboils, and we are all cheap.”
