Quality Is Key In A Tough Year Of Seafood Marketing

In a tough year for marketing wild salmon, quality is key and if you do that, the customers who eat it will like it, and tell retailers what they want in the stores, says Scott Blake, president and chief executive officer of Copper River Seafoods.

Domestic markets are an incredible market for our sockeye, and more and more people are eating it and they like it, Blake said in an interview May 5 at the company's office in Anchorage.

The Copper River fishery opens on May 14, with other salmon fisheries in Bristol Bay, Cook Inlet, Kodiak, Southeast Alaska and more opening within weeks after that.
