One of Seattle's larger crab processing companies has purchased a Redmond seafood importer as a way to expand despite the finite amount of wild crab available.
By buying Vantage Seafood LLC, the much-larger Keyport LLC will be able to bring in seafood from Asia and from Latin America, said Keyport Vice President Mark Pedersen.
The new species include tilapia and a swai, a catfish-like fish, both of which are farmed, as well as scallops, which are caught wild.
