Tampa Maid Foods Announces New Partnership with Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative

Lakeland, Fl.— Tampa Maid Foods, LLC is pleased to announce their new partnership with the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI). For Tampa Maid, GSSI provides a one-stop-shop for credible seafood sustainability certifications. The company joins more than 80 other like-minded organizations working with GSSI to create a more sustainable seafood industry.

To ensure confidence in the supply and promotion of certified seafood, GSSI’s Global Benchmark Tool assesses seafood certification schemes, both aquaculture and wild caught, against a globally recognized set of criteria rooted in the United Nations FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries and United Nations FAO Ecolabelling Guidelines. This increases transparency and credibility in seafood certification and in turn, enables informed choices for procuring certified seafood.

“We are proud to be a funding partner for GSSI and support the ongoing efforts to create a more transparent and sustainable seafood industry,” says Rod Van Wyngarden, Chief Operating Officer at Tampa Maid. “Not only will this open up more sustainable sourcing opportunities, but it also allows us to satisfy our customer’s growing demand for responsibly-sourced, credible seafood.”

As a leading supplier of value-added seafood and specialty products, Tampa Maid is committed to working with GSSI and partners to find solutions that address the complex challenges across the seafood supply chain.
