The Cost Of Fraser Sockeye Salmon Expected To Rise

VANCOUVER  – You can expect to pay more for Fraser Sockeye Salmon this year and several local fisherman are blaming the federal government for not acting on recommendations made by the Cohen Commission to fix the decline in stock.

There was a major drop in the number of sockeye hatched in 2009 and because fish typically run in a four year cycle, they’re set to return now.

“We didn’t get those fish and so there are no fish to come back.  We’re struggling to get enough for ourselves let alone to sell,” explains fisherman Paul Kandt.
