The Latest in Strawberry Farming Research and Innovation Displayed at Cal Poly Strawberry Center Field Day 

Nearly 500 strawberry growers, shippers, processors, researchers and agricultural stakeholders gathered on August 3 for the seventh annual Cal Poly Strawberry Center Field Day, the largest research and education event for the California strawberry industry. The event showcased the latest in innovative strawberry farming technology and research to better combat challenges faced by strawberry growers. 

Beeflow & Cal Poly Strawberry Center Partner For a Study on Strawberry Pollination that Aims to Reduce Food Waste by Up to One-Third

While bees are not typically considered vital in the growing of strawberries, a new study from The Cal Poly Strawberry Center and Beeflow will explore the use of managed honeybees in strawberry pollination. The first-of-its-kind research funded by the California Strawberry Commission (CSC) and the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (CDPR) hopes to harvest many results, including reduction of food waste by up to one-third.

The Cal Poly Strawberry Center highlighted more than a dozen farm research projects at its highest-attended Strawberry Field Day. Members of the California Strawberry Commission and more than 400 strawberry growers, researchers, and industry representatives were in attendance and learned about the program’s efforts to improve California’s multi-billion dollar strawberry industry.

The Cal Poly Strawberry Center highlighted 15 different research projects they worked on throughout the season at its annual Strawberry Field Day. Members of the California Strawberry Commission and more than 250 industry members were in attendance and learned about the program’s efforts to improve California’s multi-billion dollar strawberry industry.
