McLane Company, Inc. (McLane), a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, has entered into an agreement to acquire Meadowbrook Meat Company, Inc. (MBM). MBM, based in Rocky Mount, North Carolina is one of the nation's largest customized foodservice distributors for national restaurant chains. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, including the termination of the applicable waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act.

Chipotle To Serve Over 10 Million Lbs Of Locally Grown Produce

Chipotle Mexican Grill said it plans to serve more than 10 million pounds of locally grown produce for the second year in a row, up from 5 million pounds just two years ago. Chipotle has steadily increased its locally sourced produce supply since beginning the program in 2008, with the commitment to serve great tasting vegetables that are grown on farms within 350 miles of the restaurants where they will be served.
