Boulder Brands said Thursday it has acquired Davies Bakery, one of the United Kingdom's top gluten-free baking businesses.
The Boulder company, formerly known as Smart Balance Inc., said it will use Davies' expertise to launch Udi's bakery and grocery items in the United Kingdom this year.
The deal will see the manufacture and distribution of more than 15 Udi's products throughout the U.K., said Boulder Brands.
Last June, New Jersey-based Sm art Balance announced it had signed an agreement to acquire Denver-based Udi's Healthy Foods for $125 million — an acquisition it said would enable it to offer "the most comprehensive portfolio of gluten-free products."
