Canada Bread Co. Launches New Dempster's Bakery Gluten Zero Loaves

Toronto, Ontario – The Gluten-Free Certification Program (GFCP) in partnership with the Canadian Celiac Association are proud to announce that Dempster’s Bakery Gluten Zero™ has recently become certified by the GFCP in Canada. This line of gluten-free loaves can now be found at major retailers across Ontario, Eastern Canada and Quebec (under the Bon Matin brand) bearing the GFCP trademark of assurance.

With innovation at the forefront, taste and texture were key product mandates. The resulting 100 per cent gluten-free loaves deliver a just-out-of-the-oven great taste and moist texture. Consumers describe them as offering the comforting flavour of regular bread without the worry. For optimum freshness and great taste, the loaf is vacuum sealed at the point of baking to create an air-tight seal which locks in moistness and freshness. The loaves unopened will remain fresh for 21 days and once opened can be enjoyed for up to five days, and can be found in the fresh bakery aisle of grocery stores.

“By displaying the GFCP trademark endorsed by the CCA, the Dempster’s Bakery Gluten Zero™ brand provides consumers with a trusted and easily identifiable source of gluten-free products. The recent interest and growing demand for accessible, healthy gluten-free products across all food categories and the desire to continuously innovate fueled our desire to obtaining this quality certification,” says Michelle Dobbyn, brand manager, Canada Bread Company, Limited.

Both Dempster’s Bakery Gluten Zero™ offerings include the GFCP trademark: the Whole Grain Loaf and White Loaf. They are 100 per cent gluten-free and are made in a 100 per cent dedicated gluten-free facility in Toronto, Ontario. They are certified by the GFCP which is endorsed by the CCA. Each loaf retails for $5.49 – $6.49 (MSRP).

“The CCA advocates on behalf of the 2,300,000 of Canadians suffering from celiac disease and gluten sensitivity, who are often challenged by the uncertainty of identifying gluten-free products which are essential to their well-being,” says Paul Valder, president of the GFCP. “The participation of Dempster’s Bakery Gluten Zero™ in the GFCP program supports Canadians’ rights to safe food and delicious gluten-free options. We applaud Canada Bread Co. Ltd. for their smart innovation and offering Canadians more choice in meeting their specific dietary needs.”

About the Gluten-Free Certification Program
The Gluten-Free Certification Program (GFCP) was developed so consumers can shop with confidence by selecting those safe, reliable and gluten-free products displaying the GFCP trademark and is endorsed by the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness and the Canadian Celiac Association.

The GFCP is a voluntary certification program designed to help brand owners to differentiate their gluten-free products from the increasing clutter of gluten-free claims, by displaying the GFCP endorsed trademark. The GFCP is also based on a robust third-party audit certification process at the manufacturing facility, which verifies their ability to regularly meet the stringent GFCP requirements, when managing gluten as part of their food safety programs.
