Congressional Policy Expert To Address ELDC Public Policy Forum

WASHINGTON, D.C. The Sept. 19th Morning Program Session of ABA’s Executive Leadership Development Committee (ELDC) Public Policy Forum will kick off with Christopher M. Davis, an analyst at the U.S. Library of Congress’s Congressional Research Service (CRS). Attendees will participate in an informative and entertaining session entitled, Role and Duties of Congressional Leadership.

“Chris Davis is an ELDC favorite,” said ELDC Co-Chair Morgan Murphy, Mother Murphy’s Flavors.  “It is important for industry members to understand how Congress works and there’s no better authority on that than Chris Davis.  I always thoroughly enjoy Chris’ presentations and come away better informed on how government operates.”

Mr. Davis will draw upon his years of experience on Capitol Hill to teach an educational session on the role and importance of congressional leadership including the Speaker of the House, Minority Leader, Majority and Minority Whips, and more.

The CRS works exclusively for the United States Congress, providing policy analysis to committees and members of the House and Senate, and is well known for work that is authoritative, confidential, objective, and nonpartisan. Prior to working for CRS, Mr. Davis served for over a decade as a political and policy advisor to members of the House and Senate, including a full committee chair and a member of the congressional party leadership.

His work at the Library of Congress focuses on the areas of parliamentary procedure and the history and operations of Congress. Mr. Davis advises House Members, Senators and senior staff on the legislative process, legislative strategy, and the daily operations of congressional offices.  He also speaks regularly about Congress and the dynamics of lawmaking.

ELDC is dedicated to developing the future leadership of the wholesale baking industry and the American Bakers Association.
