Simple Kneads Bakery at 227-B S. Elm St. is closing its retail operation at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Simple Kneads' office manager, Jennifer Bost, says the bakery is closing retail operations for "financial reasons."
The European-style bakery opened downtown almost 10 years ago in the 300 block of South Elm Street. About a year later, the bakery moved to its current location in a quaint alley next to Chakras Salon and Spa.
For years, the bakery has supplied area retailers, restaurants and large events such as conventions at the Greensboro Coliseum. The bakery has also been a fixture at the Greensboro Farmers' Curb Market.
