Herman Cain To Serve As 2011 ATBI Leadership Breakfast Speaker

WASHINGTON, D.C. The American Bakers Association is extremely pleased to announce that Herman Cain, longtime restaurant industry leader and former Godfather’s Pizza president & CEO, will participate as the leadership speaker at the Allied Trades of the Baking Industry Breakfast, on Monday, March 28, at the 2011 ABA Convention.

“Mr. Cain is a top-notch, well respected leader in the food and restaurant industries, whose remarkable story is both an example and an inspiration to the business world. ABA is excited to welcome him to the convention,” said ABA President & CEO Robb MacKie. “The ATBI breakfast has always been a huge draw for convention attendees, wholook forward to learning valuable leadership insight to bring back to their companies and employees,” he continued.

Mr. Cain will share with ABA the leadership philosophy he has built during his more than 30 years as a business leader and entrepreneur. A Georgia native, Mr. Cain began his career working for Pillsbury, where he broke into the restaurant industry from the bottom up—from making hamburgers at a Burger King to managing 400 of the restaurants within 9 months. In 1986, Pillsbury appointed him president of the struggling Godfather’s Pizza, where he regained profitability and went on to successfully serve for 10 years.

“Mr. Cain has built a reputation as a leader that individuals, corporations, and communities can emulate. He is a tremendous addition to our program at this year’s convention, and we know that our attendees will both benefit from and genuinely enjoy his remarks,” MacKie continued. "ABA is fortunate and grateful for the support of the ATBI that allows us to bring leaders of Mr. Cain’s caliber to speak at the ABA Convention."

Additionally, Mr. Cain served as both the chairman and president & CEO of the National Restaurant Association from 1994-1999. Today, he is a noted public speaker, regular contributor on Fox Business News, host of his own Atlanta-based  talk show, and author. He sits on the board of directors of AGCO, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Hallmark Cards, Whirlpool, and Morehouse College.

The 2011 ABA Convention promises to be the premier industry event of the year. The theme of “Enriching Bodies and Lives” is a celebration of the enrichment the baking industry provides the country. The ABA Convention will bring together hundreds of leaders from America’s baking businesses and their suppliers for networking, idea exchange, and working sessions. Registration is open through Feb. 25, and is open to both members and prospective members. More information may be found at www.americanbakers.org.
