International Baking Industry Exposition On A Roll: Ranked Among Top US Trade Shows

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE) has long been known as the Baking Expo™ that brings together the entire grain-based food industry, and now, it’s adding another impressive title to its resume: Top U.S. Trade Show. IBIE has recently earned national recognition for its stellar 2013 show, with a designation this month as a Gold 100 Honoree by Trade Show Executive (TSE) and ranked 43 among the 250 Best Trade Showsacross the country this April by Trade Show News Network (TSNN).

This rise in trade show rankingwas inevitable, considering that IBIE is the only event in the U.S. to showcase the latest baking technology while also assembling the complete array of equipment, ingredient, supply and businesssolutions for baking professionals. IBIE 2013’s expansive show floor comprised a total of 392,032 net square feet and gathered more than 21,000 attendees from an unprecedented 100 countries, together representing every segment of the baking industry. Held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from October 6–9, 2013, IBIE 2013 featured the most robust educational conference to date, with more than 75 sessions covering everything from improving retail operations to gluten-free baking. Both TSE and TSNN awards were culled from data provided by show management and industry leaders, with the shows ranked by net square footage. TSE’s Gold 100 is a prestigious list of the top trade shows in the US; IBIE’s numerical ranking will be announced October 2014.

“Expanding show offerings was a key initiative for IBIE 2013,” explained current IBIE Chairman Michael Cornelis. “This past year’s show incorporated a revamped education program, new contests, an innovation showcase to celebrate new products in the industry and a boost in the numbers of international exhibitors and attendees. We put a lot of hours into improving every aspect of IBIE, and it is an honor to be recognized for our success." He added, “We’re not stopping now. We are already busy pouring the same fervor of energy and innovation into preparation for IBIE 2016 to make sure that it’s better than ever.”

As a non-profit event, IBIE also works to bring the grain-based food industry to greater heights, with proceeds invested back into the industry in the form of legislative advocacy, consumer marketing campaigns promoting the health benefits of grain-based foods and programs that advance the knowledge of those currently employed in or entering the baking business. IBIE is already working on its next show, slated to run from Oct 8–11, 2016, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. To learn more about IBIE, visit www.ibie2016.org.
