Lawsuits Take Aim At Supermarket Bakery Labels

CAMDEN — Consumers in New Jersey are suing three supermarket chains, claiming their bakery good are not really made from scratch in the stores.

The suits filed in state court in Camden on Tuesday assert that Acme, Wegmans and Whole Foods Market all prepare baked goods elsewhere and just reheat them in their stores.

Representatives from the three grocery companies told the Courier-Post they haven’t seen the lawsuits or won’t comment specifically on litigation. But spokeswomen from Acme and Wegmans both say they are not deceiving customers.
