LINPAC Secures Major Order For New Bakery SmartBox Range

Shoppers at one of Spain’s largest supermarket chains will easily see the freshness and quality of their dessert choice after Europe’s leading multi-material packaging manufacturer, LINPAC Packaging, secured an order from major retailer Alcampo for its brand new LINbake SmartBox range.

LINPAC Packaging has designed and manufactured two bespoke sizes and styles of the SmartBox for Alcampo supermarkets. The range offers retailers a unique packaging solution that ensures maximum impact in presentation and strong branding opportunities, without compromising on product protection and environmental concerns.

The SmartBox gives shoppers a clear view of the product and reassurance that it will be well protected on the journey home – so it looks as good on the table as it does in the shop. The cake or gateau is secured on a PET base, which not only assists in the packing process but also offers the consumer ease of removal from the pack – and can double as a serving platter.

The traditional ‘home-made’ look of the SmartBox adds value to the product and it is ideally suited to in-store patisseries assembling gateaux and cakes in front of customers, as well as for pre-packed items.

Special air-flow grooves between the base and the PET lid allow air to circulate freely, preventing condensation in the pack, while the cartonboard has been treated to make it suitable for both chiller cabinets and the freezer.

Manufactured at LINPAC Packaging’s plant in Pravia, Spain, the SmartBox kits have been designed to ensure they are easy and quick to construct and are supplied as flat-packs with stacked lids for easy storage.

The SmartBox has also been designed with the environment in mind – potentially eliminating the packaging waste destined for landfill. As well as being available with a lid made from post-consumer recycled PET, both the cardboard base and lid are easily recycled.

The SmartBox range is available in two standard print designs to enhance the look-and-feel of the box, but retailers and packers can also create their own eye-catching and bespoke designs.

The five easy steps for constructing the SmartBox are:

  • Click the edges of the box together, which will automatically lock in position
  • Fold-in the small edges
  • Slide the pastry into the box
  • Apply the lid
  • Fold up the outer sides to lock the lid in place.

Diego Fernandez, Bakery Sales Manager at LINPAC Packaging, said: “Product presentation and protection is very important to consumers, and our SmartBox range is ideal for items such as gateaux and other cakes. It provides products with an attractive and protective package that can be branded to entice the customer to purchase, while its simple construction can easily be carried out in-store.

“We are extremely pleased to have been able to deliver a packaging solution to Alcampo that is both unique and eye-catching – perfect for them to display their premium cakes.”
