N.J. Gluten-Free Bakery Opting For Strictly Online Sales

MILLVILLE — Mr. Ritts bakery here has changed its business model, and it’s not something its operators wanted to do.

Faced with some financial struggles and increased competition, owners are no longer baking their gluten-free products here, and have shut down their retail operation.

Now, Mr. Ritts’ is offering Internet sales only of its bread and waffle mix.

While its customers may have bemoaned the change, Internet sales are doing just fine, owners say.

“We’ve sold 9,000 pounds since May 1,” said Paul Kelty, one of the operators of the facility on Second Street.
