New City Bakery Outlet In Batavia Offers Cheaper Alternative

BATAVIA — There’s nothing like a snowstorm to boost business. At least that’s how it was for the newly opened Arnold’s Bakery Outlet this week.

“It has been very busy,” employee Mandy Newton said Tuesday. “Everybody’s getting ready for the storm. People have said they loved the store, they’re so glad it has come back.”

Actually, it’s not exactly the same outlet that was once in East Town Plaza. This store is open for business six days a week at Valu Plaza, 4152 West Main Street Rd.

Considered a “recovery store,” the shop sells items that are “closer dated and overstock” products, store manager John Giblin said. One loaf of bread, for example, had a date of Feb. 4.
