Philadelphia's Amoroso's Baking On Strike

Don’t see your favorite rolls in the bread aisle? No, the Amoroso truck didn’t get lost on its way to the supermarket, union workers for the Philadelphia bakery went on strike overnight.

In other words, no bread for you!

Drivers for the company, who are represented by Teamsters Local 463, went on strike early Monday morning, picketing the bakery on 55th Street and Baltimore Avenue in West Philly.

According to Local 463's secretary and treasurer Bob Ryder, Lenny Amoroso informed all drivers that they must purchase their routes. As of midnight, he told all the workers that did not buy their routes that they were done and that he was going to sell the routes to independent operators.
