Polka Dot Bake Shop – New Facility And Star K Kosher Certification

CHARLOTTE, NC – After a year of making their sweet potato crackers in the kitchen of their retail bakery, Polka Dot Bake Shop has spun off their packaged wholesale line of gourmet crackers, opened a new facility and has been awarded Kosher certification from Star K Certification, Inc.

Millchap Purveyors, the new legal entity, has leased space in Charlotte that allows the business to produce more than eight times its previous volume. “After introducing the sweet potato crackers at gourmet food shows in New York, Atlanta, and San Francisco, the demand has steadily increased over the last year. We have signed on with several distributors and needed to set up a production facility to meet this increased demand, “says Millchap Purveyors co-owner Michelle Miller.

During the process of opening the new facility, Millchap Purveyors worked to obtain the Star K kosher certification. “Our retail bakery has always been certified kosher through a local rabbi and it has served us well in the Charlotte market. With our sweet potato crackers having a national distribution, we felt that the Star K certification was vital to having a nationally recognized kosher product. It made sense to coordinate the opening of the new facility with the new kosher certification,” adds Millchap Purveyors co-owner Jennifer Chapman.

Millchap Purveyors produces Polka Dot Bake Shop’s sweet potato crackers. The crackers are the only cracker baked with real sweet potatoes. The crackers are made by hand in Charlotte, North Carolina and are available in four flavors: Original, Rosemary & Olive Oil, Cracked Black Pepper and Chipotle with Smoked Paprika. The crackers are considered kosher pareve and both the products and facility are dairy-free, nut-free and egg-free.

Polka Dot Bake Shop maintains its retail bakery in Charlotte, offering cupcakes, cookies, brownies and muffins, baked from scratch every day.
