FORT WORTH, Texas — Santa Claus announced today that he will make his annual visit to Mrs Baird's in Fort Worth to hear the holiday wishes of thousands of North Texas children. Parents are thrilled that the event, including professional color photos with Santa, and Mrs Baird's sweet treats are free of charge.
Santa's visits to Mrs Baird's bakery date back to 1939. In the last five years, close to 29,000 excited visitors stopped by the bakery to sit in Mr. Claus' lap and share their Christmas wishes. Parents have been happy to avoid the rush and cost of visiting Santa at area malls. The events are free and include photographs with Santa, along with Mrs Baird's favorite powdered sugar donuts. Because of its popularity, the event has more than doubled in size, accommodating the thousands of guests visiting Old St. Nick each weekend.
"I love visiting with all my North Texas friends and families at Mrs Baird's," said Santa. "I enjoy seeing those who come year after year and I especially love being part of a new tradition with young couples bringing their newborns! The thousands of hugs, and almost-that-many donuts, fill my heart and my belly!"
"Santa is an honored guest at Mrs Baird's and we're proud to welcome him to our bakery," said Dan Larson of Mrs Baird's. "We know the great joy and memories he brings to people of all ages. This year we have adapted Santa's theme to a fun and colorful Candy land setting, sure to delight our youngest visitors."
Additionally, Santa and Mrs Baird's are collecting gifts for Toys for Tots. Guests are invited, but not required, to bring a new toy to donate.
"Mrs Baird's visits with Santa are a tradition," said Larson. "The community has supported Mrs Baird's for more than 100 years and hosting Santa at the bakery is just one way we say thank you."
Santa will park his sleigh at the Mrs Baird's Bakery at 7301 South Freeway in Fort Worth at the following times:

- Saturday Dec. 10, 2011 12:00 – 4:30 pm
- Sunday Dec. 11, 2011 12:00 – 4:30 pm
- Friday Dec. 16, 2011 4:00 – 7:30 pm
- Saturday Dec. 17, 2011 12:00 – 4:30 pm
- Sunday Dec. 18, 2011 12:00 – 4:30 pm
Guests can visit with Santa in a colorful Candy land setting, have their picture taken with Old St. Nick and sample Santa's favorite Mrs Baird's sweet treats. The events are free and open to the public.
