Vegan Doughnut: Decadent Treat With A Healthful Twist

Mention doughnut, and most people’s immediate sensation either before or
after their mouth starts to water is probably a pang of guilt.

After all, everyone knows doughnuts are loaded with sugar and fat, not to
mention that they’re plunged into boiling oil to give them their delicious,
crispy, golden outer crust.

But now there’s Holy Donuts!, a hole-in-the-wall (literally) shop that
specializes in doughnuts that not only look and taste as good as any other but
also are made with quality, organic ingredients even a vegan can love.

Owner Karen Nunley has been providing local markets, coffee shops, natural food
stores even a biofueling station with her creations for nearly two years.
And in December, she realized her dream of opening her own retail doughnut shop.

they are fried in palm oil. Some are gluten free. Icings are made with fresh
fruit. The icing on maple bars is made with Vermont maple syrup.
