Ontario's Cardinal Meat Specialists Gets Cash Injection

A Brampton processing company is beefing up its sausage production courtesy of an $826,000 cash injection from Ottawa.  Parliamentary Secretary Pierre Lemieux, on behalf of federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz, announced funding for Cardinal Meat Specialists Ltd., a local company that produces meat products for distribution to retail markets.

Wayne County officials said Wednesday that Sugar Creek Packing Co., a food manufacturer headquartered in Washington Court House, 30 miles south east of Dayton, Ohio, purchased the former Really Cool Foods plant and property during a bankruptcy auction in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana in Indianapolis Wednesday.
