YottaMark, Inc. announced today that it has acquired substantially all the assets of ShopWell Solutions, Inc. (ShopWell), the million shopper-strong personalized food information company.  YottaMark will integrate the ShopWell team into its HarvestMark Insights group, and ShopWell’s hugely popular website and mobile applications will become YottaMark branded properties.

Grower-Shipper Association Inaugurates Mark Borman Of Taylor Farms As 2013-2014 Chairman Of The Board

The Grower-Shipper Association of Central California (GSA) held its Annual Meeting on Thursday, May 23 at Corral de Tierra Country Club in Salinas. Mark Borman, the Association’s new Chairman of the Board, was inaugurated at this event in front of more than 75 members and dignitaries. As the new Chairman of the Board to Grower-Shipper, Borman will continue to advocate for strong businesses that support the families and people in our community and beyond. Borman spoke about his interest in continuing to develop resources that will help farmers build their capacity to make strong business decisions that will lead to a sustainable agricultural industry and creating opportunities for young people to emerge as agriculture’s next leaders.

New Initiative On The Front Lines Of Food Safety

With piles of fresh strawberries beckoning consumers at markets and stores this season, an alliance of a major retailer, fruit growers and farm workers has begun a program to promote healthy produce and improve working conditions. Under the new program, with Andrew & Williamson the first grower to participate, berries sold under the label “Limited Edition,” would carry certification to inform consumers that food safety protocols had been followed and that the workers who harvested the crop were treated fairly.
