Frieda’s Specialty Produce has been named an inductee of the National Women Business Owners Corporation’s (NWBOC) “Decades of Excellence” Hall of Fame at the national NWBOC conference in Florida this May.  Frieda’s will be honored, among other companies, for being a Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) certified with NWBOC for 10 years or more.

Ensuring Environmental Sustainability A Priority For P.E.I. Potato Growers

The Action Committee for Sustainable Land Management that was formed to study the incidence of fish death in the Barclay Brook last summer recently tabled their report and provided a number of specific recommendations to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.  The potato industry was represented by General Manager Greg Donald and Board Chairman Gary Linkletter working as part of the committee, as well as through contributions by individual farmers in the Barclay Brook Watershed during investigation and consultation.

JemD To Open Large Virginia Greenhouse

JemD will open a large greenhouse in Pulaski County, creating 205 jobs in the New River Valley. JemD Farms is adding to their greenhouse farm portfolio with a state of the art farm and distribution center in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The new project was announced in a Press Conference held last Friday by Virginia Governor, Robert McDonnell. The US operation will add to the company’s already 400+ acres of production. The US operation will be located in the town of Dublin, Virginia and will be harvested and marketed under the Red Sun label.
